Re: Electric water pump???
Everybody probably does this, but with an electric pump & fans, it is easier to cool your engine down. A four wire connector to your fan & pump relays can be unplugged from the car, and connected to a separate battery. You can cool it back to ambient temp in a fairly short time. Not as fast as a chiller, not as messy either. LOL
Easier to make every run at similar water temps. Easier to dial the car that way. This is a very sharp group, so likely everybody know this.

Re: Electric water pump???
I just use a squirrel cage blower up front after each run...moves more air thru the radiator than my mounted electric fan. I activate the electric pump every 5-10 minutes to swap the cooled water with the hot block water after each pass...seems to be more effective than constant circulation.

Re: Electric water pump???
Rich, I still have my carpet/floor drying squirrel cage fan. Never got as cool, as fast as the cool-down battery deal. Got the idea from my long time friend Mike Edwards, cooling his car that way. I use a digital temp gauge in the car (reads more exact & lower than analog gauges), and power it off that connector so it shows the temp with the car batteries shut off while charging them. I learned the hard/expensive way to not turn the ignition switch on while charging my 16 volt car batteries. Hard to find 16 volt chargers that don't put out excessive AC voltage. I threw away two due to that. One showed 19 volts D.C., and nearly 30 volts AC. Killled two MSD boxes and a FAST ECU with that damn thing. Next charger was OK for a while, then started putting out excessive AC.
No need to turn the car on like I'm doing it now. No more failing to start for the next run. Carbureted cars still have ignition boxes to care for. MSD fixed (replaced) mine. I still carry spares just in case. Just glance inside the car to check temp while cooling down.

Re: Electric water pump???
Ran Meziere for about 15 years before the motor failed. They rebuilt it and it cost less than a new one. They are AOK. with me

Re: Electric water pump???
My car is old school. I have the moroso electric drive motor with the cog belt and an aluminum water pump. I like to be able to see the pump running. The one I have is at least 20 years old and still going strong.

Re: Electric water pump???
I used one of those on my '69 Camaro C/SM car when they first came out, late '70s. Worked fine. I now just pull my radiator cap if I wonder if my pump is pumping. Crossflow radiator, you can see it moving easily. I can feel it running if I put my hand on the motor.

Re: Electric water pump???
I have used the same setup on my bracket cars for over 30 years. Had a few electric motors wear out over the years, but since they are just a Ford heater fan motor, cheap and easy to replace. Bonus is the factory alternator brackets fit the stock type water pump as is.
