Rigid or spring loaded wheelie bars
I'm considering new wheelie bars for my corvette as the ones I currently use are short...only to the rear bumper. I have seen on the new cobalts/cavaliers that east tex prefers rigid and b&b uses spring loaded (or vice versa). Which is better? Should the decision be based on e.t. range, 8.50 or faster rigid and 8.50 or slower spring loaded?
Thanks for any input.

Re: Rigid or spring loaded wheelie bars
in my opinion a car with less front end travel can get away with a solid bar . but i prefer a sprung bar for most cars with a-arms up front . i only use a solid bar on strut cars with less front end travel .

Re: Rigid or spring loaded wheelie bars
A ridgid bar is difficult to make work on most any car except maybe the FWD conversion cars. I spent most of the year trying to make a solid bar work on my car, it was just too violent , changed them to sprung and picked up .05 in the 60. The nice part about starting with a sprung bar is you CAN make them ridgid if you wish. Joe

Re: Rigid or spring loaded wheelie bars
Thanks to quadfather and Joe for the replies. My car has lots of travel there just seems to be a really fine line between having the front end too loose and not loose enough. I currently have spring loaded bars however, they are really short and I feel like the longer bars may give me a little more control and allow me to be more aggressive on the launch rpm's. Have you guys compare long versus short bars?
Thanks again for the input.

Re: Rigid or spring loaded wheelie bars
You might want to call Garry Hansen in L.A. He builds a spring loaded set that extends as spring is compressed.
