Re: 360 hp 350 SBC added to 1970 Nova
The same basic motor is available in the 70 Camaro, 69 Corvette and 70 corvette, the 69 corvette has another .030 intake lift if I remember correctly. Ratings vary greatly , 320- 400 . I own and race a 69 Corvette with a 427, I considered the LT1, but at a ridiculous 400 rating, ain't happening. I went thru the proper channels and the answer was that the only way to get a reduction was to build the car and race it. Oh well,,
Glad to see the Nova get the LT1, looking forward to seeing them being raced.

Beyond my pay grade, ask the guy who took 65 HP off of the Street Wedge when nobody was running one.

Re: 360 hp 350 SBC added to 1970 Nova
I had a buddy That lived in Houston that had a 66-350HP 327 chevy 11 and a 70 Yenco Nova 360HP 350. He bought both of them new and they were bone stock. I loved that chevy11.. He never raced them, but told me the '70 Nova seemed to run better than the '66..I always told him I wanted the Chevy 11 if he ever sold it. Years after college I lost track of him & the cars..

I for one have discussed multiple times at length via email and written correspondence with NHRA that the early Camaro and '68-72 Nova (actually they are Chevy II's in '68 and Novas from '69 on) should not be considered as the same platform. They share a front sub frame and rear axle housing and that's about it....and even the rear housings have different spring perches as the springs are splayed differently front to rear. GM actually classifies them as different platforms...'F' for the Camaro and 'X' for the Nova. But the fact is, these cars were built and should have been in the Guide since 1970. The only unfortunate thing is that the weight break didn't end up in the 9.40's as some of the initial paper work on shipping weights indicated it might. -Al

Re: 360 hp 350 SBC added to 1970 Nova
I think the longer wheelbase puts them in a different review category. I think it is great they added it. I will say, to be honest about it, this is a super good combo in a Camaro. NHRA gifted it and it has been fairly well protected so I could see why they carried it over to the Nova.
