Starter Fitment Issues - SBC Superstock Kickout Pan
I'm looking for a starter to fit a SBC with a kickout oil pan. I tried a Powermaster 9540 I had laying around and the body of the starter binds up against the pan no matter how you clock it. Any suggestions on what starter I should try? It seems like I need a starter who's body is staggered away from the oil pan.

the market holds a number of different configurations.
In the last few years I have enjoyed working with Mark Payne at House of Payne Performance. He has good service, good products, good pricing. A good guy. |

We use a Tilton on our SS with the 168 tooth flywheel. No fit issues. The 153 tooth flywheel I could see a fit issue.

There's Tilton Super Starters, The Original. . . and still the best. The Super Starter is the original high performance gear reduction mini starter. It has become the benchmark for starters used in high performance and racing applications and then there's every other manufacturer trying to be #2. You only have to buy the best once!

I would contact the manufacturer of the oil pan. I'm sure they would know what starters are compatible with their pans.

Yes, I do. You should try it some time rather than just trying to be a smart a**.
