Fuel Pump Recommendation
I think I need to replace my BG500 fuel pump. It is leaking when running. The last time I had it rebuilt, it leaked as soon as I installed it. Had to return it again and it still wasn't quite right. And the service was not good either. So I swore if I had to repalce it, I would go with another manufacturer. So which is more of a direct replacement or better replacement, Magnafuel of Aeromotive?

Re: Fuel Pump Recommendation
Product Engineering. John's a little out there but been building fuel pumps a long time.
First with SuperFlow pumps in the early 90's then he built the original BG fuel pump, 4 vane pumps, then MagnaFlow, 5 vane and now the PE, 7 vane pump Last edited by 1320racer; 05-29-2012 at 12:19 PM. |

Re: Fuel Pump Recommendation
All great pumps mentioned above.
Weldon Fuel Pumps by far is the best Pump out there and offers service second to none in the industry and a LIFETIME warranty and that's hard to beat. Just go to their website (http://www.weldonracing.com/) and read the brief on the New Sportsman Pump. If your from division 1 then calll Ken Moses as He can answer any questions you may have or Just call Weldon and ask for Jim Craig.

Did have a very informative conversation with Aeromotive. Unfortunately, the space I had available was limited and was geared around the BG pump and filter. I would not be able to make the Areomotive pump and filter fit so I had to opt for the Magnafuel pump and filter set up which fit with a small amount of additional fabrication and fuel line. Bob |

Re: Fuel Pump Recommendation
Anyone have an issue with fuel pressure going to 0 on launch? Had no issues using A2000 Aeromotive pump, and using same setup, bought a megnafuel quickstar300 pump/filter combo cause I liked their filter setup. About 3 tenths off the transbrake, rackpak shows fuel pressure spikes down to zero, right back up, then right back to zero then back up, then fine the rest of the run. Same results when checked pressure on both high side and low side location. Sent in fuel pump and regulator to megnafuel, said everything checked out fine, but did put new o-rings in the pump. Reinstalled and had same problem. Put my Aeromotive pump back on with no issues. megnafuel said they had no idea why this would happen. After further investigation, I was told by another major pump manufacturer to stay away from the pump/filter combo's with the vertical filter's as they can cause this. At least it was a problem in my case..
