Cool Re: NHRA allows coolant being used now ...

Could you imagine if that got spilled on the track?

I think they are referring to products like "water wetter, quick cool " and such.

Nope , Straight coolant !
NHRA is aware and has been told by the newer cars that is extremely important for them to run the Glycol based coolant in their systems and NHRA has allowed this now for some time .

I love this coolant issue. Comes up like a bad weed here and there. To my knowledge, it has never been an NHRA rule that "coolant" (meaning anti-freeze) was banned. I have asked high level tech people at national events several times about this, and the answer is always "no rule". I even dripped some green stuff once on the line at a national, and all they wanted to know was the leak fixed? With the synthetic lubes today, any leak is a problem. I can keep 5-10 psi coolant contained AND 60-80 psi oil lines too. With all of the high priced aluminum being used, corrosion is not cool.

I'm ready for some flames.

RIP

It's about a 45 minute cleanup. Happens a few times a year at my local track.
