Default Fuel Sample Valve?

Does it matter what location you sample the fuel from? I would like to install a sample valve in the trunk at the fuel cell fitting rather than clutter up the engine bay with more crap in the way when tear down comes up.

don't quote me on this, but I think that NHRA wants it as close to the carb as possible. Mainly b/c you can add illegal fuel anywhere between the sample valve and the carb if you wanted to. Their way, they can see if you have any extra lines running to the carb (F.I.).

I was told that AT, or after the regulator would be fine.

There was a rumor of a SS car a few years ago that was very fast, always pulled a fuel sample from the back of the car, car also had an aluminum fuel cell. Always seemed to be a few of those 5 gallon cans of the NOT LEGAL ERC in his trailer too.............

Rules state "between fuel tank and carb" but I would put it after the regulator and locate it as far from the headers as practical. .....Aeromotive makes a really nice, safe valve for this purpose. ..........I think Bernie Cunningham also used to sell a neat little brass valve for this purpose, I don't know if he still sells them. .....Tom

Yes, under the hood,I have a drain valve in the stock gas tank, that worked well for 5 years, until a Tech guy saw it. I now have a valve on the fuel rail.
