Re: Slicks Tread width
From my experience the last thing you want to do is have a 10" slick on an 8" rim no matter what the tire manufacturer says. The sidewall of the tire cannot work properly when the wheel is that far inside the tread. You will kill the sidewalls real quick this way too, especially with a heavy, hard leaving car. And, you will likely have less contact patch than you would by just using a 9" tire on your 8" rim. I took Hoosier's advice advice early this year and did just this. My car went to junk. Sidewalls were junk, and no matter what air pressure I ran the car just flat out would not work. This of course was with a heavy Chevelle 60 footing high 1.30's to low 1.40's. Took the 10" hoosier bias tires off and went back to the Hoosier 9" radial slicks... problem solved.
Don't do it! |
