Default Congrats to the Open Racers

There were some well deserved smiles at the Epping National Open race this weekend , some of our ASRA members were sporting those smiles at the end of the day.

Lets start with Tony Fillipone, he and son Christian were there, Tyler missed it as he was at his prom. Tony had told me early in the day that Tyler's win in Columbus at the Class Nationals was better than any win he could ever have, well a few hours later he was holding the Wally . Maybe they sent Tyler a text photo with him holding the Wally a message "wish you were here". I am sure Tyler's prom was great, but Tony was on his game and had a great race. Congrats to a great family and supporter of ASRA.

The ageless Vic Santos "only" managed to qualify #1 and go to the semis, way to go Vic

2013 ASRA and PC Richard National Open Champion John Gray made it to the winners circle for the second year in a row at this event. John, Christine and Tim were all smiles. Tim Boudreau was back racing and made it to the final where he redlite to John. John was in A/SA and Tim in B/SA and I believe Tim dialed 10.18 and John 10.05 in the final

Wish that I had a qualifying sheet, if someone has one please post the info. If you stayed home, shame on you, it was a great event.

Congrats to Dean, so the former teamates both were at the top of the Qualifying sheets.

Nice to see your back
Dave not sure why its shame on people for not going?
Is that from the head guy at the All Stars ?
Or is that your personal thoughts?

Nice comments Mark I do not feel shame for not going to the race, that the weather was supposed to be really bad , I am not sure what Dave meant by that comment but I would like to thank P C Richard for sponsoring the race I did not make

Mark, It is frustrating to see an event like this not supported. The weather turned out great and they were down about 70 total cars from last year. We will miss events like this when they are gone, and this open at New England is barely surviving , from a biz standpoint, I can't see it lasting forever if it is not supported.

There is no head guy in ASRA, never has been, there are 6 of us, and my statements and opinions are just that , mine . If it was a message from the ASRA board it would've been signed that way.

Come on guys, lighten up please, I make a comment like "Shame on you" and you take it personally ? It was a great day to be at the track, had a lot of laughs and saw some friends and racers that we only see during the season, lots of fun. Dean comes back racing and qualifies first, Vic does the #1 thing and goes to the semis ,Broadbent steals my steering wheel before we race 1 st rd, just a couple of good fun things that happened. And my car came home running, that alone was a win for me after Atco.

Bottom line , join us if you can, the weatherman won't say that, he thrives on negativity.

Dave, the reason quite a few racers from my area did not show was we could not get a definite answer on rain date. New England Dragway or NHRA Div. 1 should have posted on their web sites or class racer. Lee.

You are certainly correct on that Lee. Ron from New England, Dave from Div1 and I spoke about that and one of them did say that the rain date should've been know to all. The uncertainty on the rain date hurt them. There are many factors that played into the way it happened.

Dates are few and far between,
Opens (except for the Dutch) are losers for the tracks,
The Import day scheduled for Sunday is a money maker for the track,
weather is unpredictable,,,,,

there are 4 things that I know of,, and there are more .

We had a good constructive talk that centered on how to make it better for next year.

Thank you Lee V. I look on New England Dragway and NHRA Div. 1 web sites Thursday thought Sunday and did not see anything about what their plan was or what was going on at the track, I hope they do a must better job informing us next year if there is bad weather
