8th Annual JK Motorsports DOVER DRAG STRIP NOSTALGIA DRAGS

At Lebanon Valley Dragway Sept. 24-25

We’re Back to celebrate our beloved track with more fun & surprises. Now, who would think a bunch of aging Drag Racing veteran’s of

the legendary Drag Strip ,that ran from 1961 to 1976 in Wingdale, N.Y. ,would be able to perpetuate an annual revival? But since 2009, when the idea became a reality to get the old gang back on the track, at the first event, the yearly gathering of racers and race cars has become one of the northeast’s premier Nostalgia weekends. From as far as Michigan ,North Carolina Tenn. And Florida, the Dover guys converge at Lebanon Valley Dragway for two days of racin’ and reminiscing. Over 400 cars are expected to compete this year, with plenty of ‘Old Skool” iron on display or running flat out. Saturday will be Test & tune, Fun & grudge ,time trials ,plus points races for NETO, NENDRA, and the EAST COAST GASSERS .Add to that two Gamblers Races for Pro & Super Pro and a special 1/8 th. Mile Gamblers race, hosted by the famed Buffalo area, GASSER RACING SERIES group. They’ll be plenty of other features both days with Sponsor Displays, and Feature Cars showcased. New this year will be a Saturday Night Reunion Party in the Speedway Clubhouse with the HOTROD Band playing live.

Sunday is the big day with more Points Races, The popular Dover Eliminator racing, and Feature exhibition cars. We’ll have six nostalgia Funny cars running, headlined by the two fastest alcohol Nostalgia Funny’s in the Nation. Chuck Exton's 'Wild & Crazy"against the “Time Bomb” Vega in 200 mph action, Joining them will be “ Lil’ Misbehavior”,”and "Poison Arrow". Another featured Match race will pit the 200 Mph extreme Altereds of Bruce Peterson in the “N.Y.EARTHSHAKER against Terry Smith’s “Yellow Bandit”. The Time Tunnel Rod & Custom Car Show returns for its 5th straight year on Sunday, hosted by the Dead End Cruizers.. Top 40 awards and the big 3 ft’ Best Of Show Trophy. Joining the Car Show crowd is our “Dover Originals” race car display, presented by Dover Eliminator Legends and the new last year,” Drag Alley” Nostalgia race Cars display, presented by S&W Performance Group.
The old Track was, in Wingdale, N.Y, with participants attending from all over the northeast. Opening in 1961, and finally closing in 1976. Located just 72 miles north of NYC, Dover pre-dated Conn. Dragway, Lebanon Valley Dragway, and New York National Speedway. Famous racers that called Dover Home included Dick Moroso, Al Hoffman, Bobby Lagana, Drake Viscome, Fred Egloff, The Terenzio Bros., Grady & Gommi, Doc Burgess, NHRA record holders and many more. The stars of the sport were first showcased in the region, with Don Garlits appearing 4 times in the early sixties. Others include Pete Robinson, Chris Karamasenis, Don Prudhomme, Tom McKewen, Dick Landy, Ronnie Sox, T.V.Tommy Ivo, and the fastest Funny Cars and Fuelers of the period. Fans witnessed Jet Cars, Wheelstanders, even the Batmobile.

But Memories fade away, unless you find a way to keep them alive .Mix in a lot of communication, starting with an active website forum, then you hatch the idea of getting the gang back together again. ’”Never in a million years, did I think this would grow to such a popular event for this long”, said coordinator Dino Lawrence. He is responsible for formatting the unique schedule, with racing both days, 7 “Dover” eliminators on sunday, the “Time Warp Parade’ of Former Dover Race Cars, Nostalgia Funny Cars, along with all the other features.
