Re: Original hemi dart information
You can show the letters / numbers in question and cover the rest.
Or just tell him/us. If it's ever in the sky mail ( Internet) it's there forever. Understand your concern about the duplication of original documents. |

Re: Original hemi dart information
This is on the 1966 LO23's..
I would just settle for the L023 VIN on the title. Everyone in the Chrysler community knows that the second position in the VIN is the Price Class and that if it is an O or 0, it is a Super Stock car. According to Chrysler Historical's decoding of my IBM card, "the digit, O, was not an option for the 1966 VIN". Thus my IBM card read LP23D62653XXX. I had to send them my documentation on the D/Dart program to get them to acknowledge the VIN as being LO23. The build sheet lists the car as being an LO23. The fender tag says it's an LP23. Good luck!!!!!!!! |

Re: Original hemi dart information
In nys in a vin sequence a letter o is not recognized it is always defaulted to number 0. I've tried to manually enter a letter o instead of number 0 when doing an inspection to see what happens and it gives an error message vin not correct.

Re: Original hemi dart information
Comparing that second digit with the zeros shown elsewhere on the MSO, I would say that is an LO, not L0. Does everybody agree? Thanks for posting that MSO!

Well , if you compare at the top the dealer number 55024 to the LO 23 right next to it they are not the same. Actually they are opposite of the type my phone is printing. A rounder O in the dealer number and a more oval 0 in the L0 23. Confused yet? Last edited by Charlie A; 06-26-2017 at 07:00 PM. |

Re: Original hemi dart information
The LO23 looks to me like the same O used below in "DODGE TWO DOOR HARDTOP".
I am back to thinking that it is a letter "O" in LO23, at least as far as the MSO is concerned. As for what got stamped on the VIN, still looks like a zero to me, and that makes sense if the DMV has a policy of not using the letter "O" on a VIN plate. |

But...... If you look below that at the spelling of Corporation all the O's are full circle! So regardless of the type set , was the intent to be a " oh" or a " zero"? I agree with most that think it is intended to be an "oh". Last edited by Charlie A; 06-27-2017 at 07:25 AM. |

Yes, but CORPORATION is part of the pre-printed portion of the document, not the part that gets typed in specifically for each vehicle, and would be expected to be a different type-set... my thought on it, anyway. |
