Default "Live From" Maple Grove Raceway LODRS

Hello everyone from rainy Maple Grove Raceway. Testing today will most likely not happen. As Brian Oaks said in another thread, there is very little parking left on the asphalt as so many racers have saved so many spots. More than I'm use to seeing in D1. I guess many are afraid to park on the grass, can't blame them. We were told not to park in the field, but being there are very few spots left on the asphalt not sure what can be done. Its going to be a long day if your an NHRA official trying to get everyone parked. For the record I am on the grass and I was 5th inline. They must have open the track yesterday, I did not see it listed in the schedule, there were at least 70 rigs already parked.

Because we have alcohol, comp, top dragster and top sportsman at this race, parking is limited. Those classes get the premium parking, even if they get here on Saturday. The weather this weekend looks to be a mix of sun and rain, hopefully we can get it all in.

Ken -

do you know what the deal is?

Are these roped off areas saved by the track and division for the Alcohol / Comp / Top Sportsman / Top Dragster cars? If so, that's the way it goes.... it is what it is.

Or are these large areas roped off by individuals saving spots for friends? If so, that's kind of a problem.

is it possible to get some clarification on this?

You are right Angelo, if it is people savings all those spots there has to be consequences, something serious enough that it won't be sttempted again, it looks like a long wet weekend, make the best of it ladies and gentlemen

In the case of Comp, spots are saved based on the number of entries who respond to emails asking if they plan on attending. I'm pretty sure that Alcohol is the same way based on pre-entries received. I can't speak for TD and TS though.

Angelo,

The spots that are saved by racers for there friends are in a area that has room for about 30 rigs on the asphalt. These spots will be filled even if they are saved if the racers don't get here in a timely manner. When talking to the officials, they tell me that all the spots that are roped off are for sponsors, alcohol, comp, top dragster and top sportsman.

They are doing the best they can, I know it does not seem fair to some. When the weather is bad, this track can be an issue with parking. On a good note, NHRA Tech officials are coming to the racers trailer to tech the cars in, no need to pull the car out in the rain. Talking about rain, it has stopped. The forecast also looks better for the rest of the week.

Good morning everyone, bright skies and the rain has ended. We are looking at a high in the mid 70's with a slight chance of rain later today. They are drying the track now, we were supposed to start at 8:30, but it will be a late start for sure with all the rain we had last night.

I few shots from yesterday and this morning, as you can see from the first photo, Motorhome get the wheels up too. Be back later.....

Stock and Super Stock are done with their first qualifier. Alcohol has been called to the lanes, Stock will run after them for their second qualifying shot. The weather is still holding up as the clouds have come in, but no rain as of yet. Its actually very nice except for the low barometer, its a great day.

Q1 Stk/SS....
