Re: Indy First Experience!
I'm sure everyone remembers the all night thrashing in the motel parking lots that was common ---the "unique spectators" that used to camp along side the main gate entrance and across the street at the drive in movie for a whole week??? Lots of racers partying on after the racing was done for the day. Winning class was and still is something to be proud of. We won our class in Modified Production in the 1970's a few times one year I remember we had 19 cars in the class ---you had to win class to get into the "main show"
then.. We won Comp Eliminator in Indy one year and then spent over an hour or 2 going thru post race inspection---the P&G would not pump the correct cubes so we had to pull the head to measure bore & stroke--then they couldn't get the correct wheelbase etc. etc. I don't remember how much we won but it was not a lot maybe $8,000 and we had every sticker on the car you could get--Everybody payed up do not remember any one not paying -- Looking back it was fun, met a lot of great people -lots of bench racing going on --got to see and race against people you might see only once a year----cars would tow in from all over the U.S.then ----- but I would not spend 6-7 days doing it again--- too long---- the focus now is all about TF and FC ---the other 600 racers are filler so I'll just stay home and follow it on TV or the Computer--probably make the 6 hour drive to watch qualifying on Thurs. or Friday then go back home.. Nice to reminisce about it but too long and too much of a hassle to go thru--EVERY ONE SHOULD GO AT LEAST ONCE IN THEIR LIFETIME TO COMPETE NOTHING ELSE LIKE IT --If you cannot compete at least go to see the show especially any of the days that the NON pro classes are racing especially Comp/Super Stock /Stock---you will remember it forever!!!! Re: Indy First Experience!
Oh yes the good ole days, sometimes I think I was born about 30 years too late. I still enjoy racing the way it is today and not terribly disappointed that I'm not 70 something right now but its for sure class racing isn't what it was and that's a fact. Still glad I get to do this in whatever era I'm in but often times I think this is the final era of class racing.

Highlight of my mechanical career and a lifetime memory. Beating P.C. Richardson on a hole shot. 2004.

Re: Indy First Experience!
Nope. Fastest 128 deserve a spot. Seen too many guys work their *** off to be fast enough only to get kicked by at 51 under car, or even worse before the 50 under rule.
