Ford 5.0 Valve Springs
Word on the street is the preferred Ford 5.0 valve spring is Comp #999 outers for Stock. Looking for unbiased opinions or alternate replacement. I can't see throwing away the inner springs in a $300 set.

Re: Ford 5.0 Valve Springs
I am running them on my car. (Comp #999's) You will have to clearance the stock stamped 5.0 rockers though... My friend Greg made a slick tool for this process. I can send pics if you would like? Let me know what you find out for alternatives... The 999's are not cheap.... but nothing really is in Stock as I am learning!!!

Re: Ford 5.0 Valve Springs
I've never had any trouble with the 911's. I didn't want to go through all the clearancing issues with the 999's.
Is the 999 a double and you take the inner spring out? Earle

Re: Ford 5.0 Valve Springs
Earle, how are things? Long time no speak! Are you going to Indy again this year?
My intention is to find the easiest way to rev to @7100 without alot of $$ or cutting & grinding. The 999 set includes an inner with (I believe) a damper. Notch... based on the pics you sent me a while back, your car is the nicest of all the 5.0 stockers I've seen yet. |

Re: Ford 5.0 Valve Springs
Gary, thanks for the compliment. Now if I could just get all the bugs worked out with the clutch...
The machine work required for the rockers is minimal. Took us about 30 minutes once we had the simple jig made. Taking a look at the 07 rule book, it looks like Beehive springs are now legal... Is that correct, or am I just reading into it wrong? Anyway, let me know if you find any other springs that are similar to the 999's. Best of luck with your car.
