Re: Hi all! New Guy here, Low Buck Comp build, E/ED
Thanks guys, yes we are building a homemade header, with a thick port spacer plate to get the intake out farther so the primaries can have a little straight shot before being bent. I'm on the fence however if I should do two 3 into 1 with 2-3" collectors or 6 into 1 3-1/2 collector. The engines don't scavenge well so I would think the 6 into 1 may be the ticket unless we get some pulse reversion? Maybe build both and see what works better. I'll take it to a local speed shop chassis dyno so I can play with the carbs, they only charge $100 for 2-hrs play. And yes, the pistons are your typical TRW-Speed pro heavy weights, but I have removed a bunch off the pin bosses, and with the rods I'm using they will be coming out the hole about .100 so we will mill the heads down around the dome, bring the ring pack up a little. Like I said earlier, this is the first effort, if all goes well I have plans for a homemade solid roller set up and fab up a better intake. The goal is High 8.90's/.8.80's with the first effort.

Very cool build. Maybe you'll get to pit on asphalt all the time or at least high and dry.

I gotcha, I though you may have been doing a clean sheet design of some. Was hoping to get some ideal stiffness, stress, and mass numbers.

This is an idea I got from Tom Langdon. Pair the 1 and 6, 2 and 5, and 3 and 4. The idea is to increase the mid-range torque.

Good luck on your build, Micro, I applaud your courage trying to run comp on a budget! I love looking at all of the wild engine combos guys run in that class.
