Flying H Dragstrip
Scott Higgs owner of the new Flying H track introduced himself to Linda and I as we checked in yesterday for the Double Divisional this weekend. He discussed his love of racing and passion for building this new track while others are shutting down. His word to us all was be "patient" as they learn and continue to complete this beautiful facility. FYI: They were paving additional pit parking yesterday.
We thanked him for both his personal and financial commitment to our sport. Last edited by Jim Parsons; 06-12-2024 at 09:15 AM. Reason: Grammar change |

This is an amazing track with a lot of space.
I'm anxious to see the final presentation of this place... |

Any racer coming in, pull in the spectator gate. If you go past to the “racer entry” gate, it is locked and you will need to turn around on a very narrow road.

Scheduled to be broadcast on NHRA.TV starting tomorrow. Hopefully the bugs will get worked out quickly and they have a successful race.

There is a temporary scale set up by what I think will be the fuel check spot. Very cramped for space in that area. A lot of patience will be needed by all, plus some trash cans would be nice!

Re: Flying H Dragstrip
I think the plan was for this year but from what I heard it's been extra wet in the area of the winter which caused delays in the building of the place but, I have a feeling you will see it on the 2025 National Schedule. I know Kurt Johnson from TVC has had a big say in how they are laying things out there, he did a drive around with Joe Costello back in 2023.
Watching the Live feed, definitely has a Vegas or Denver feel with the big hill at the end but looks like a cool track. |

Re: Flying H Dragstrip
If Kurt was involved in laying this track out he should have been fired the first day. There has been a lot of money put into this place and it has a lot of potential, if you aren?t on the asphalt it sucks. You cannot keep your car clean, period. Dust everywhere, and along drive to and from pits, the layout is horrible, there is no way you could hold a national event here. The staging lanes are not set up for a national event, and I have no idea where spectators would park.

Re: Flying H Dragstrip
I don't really think the place is 100% finished yet, give it some time. We should all be happy there is a NEW TRACK when so many are disappearing off the schedule.
I think the plan was for it to be completely finished by the time a National or D5 race came around, the weather play Havov on stuff, can't control Ma Nature, I'm sure it would have prob been smart to do a single D5 race instead of a double but, then everyone would complain because you only had 5 races or no doubles. WE ALL KNOW the quotas aren't going to be anything over 60 per class for a National So the question is are the pits better then Denver? |
