Re: Kinston Combo
Clutch,
Have you ever been to KDS? I like the place. I've never had a problem there. They do get a little slow at times running the show, but we all need a break. I could'nt go this weekend because it was my anniversary. I will go to KDS in the future. In fact I look forward to it. Chip Johnson |

Re: Kinston Combo
No call for that bashing .All you have to do is go on their web site and state your complaint or suggestions and Bobby will try to work it out. This combo race was not the only race being run. I am sure if you have a better idea to make things go faster ,he will be glad to listen .By the way ,Just how long do you WAIT to make one round at an NHRA or IHRA event?.Look on the brighter side at all the time you had to visit your old racin buddies .LOL! I know waiting suxs@#@@!@$#.

Re: Kinston Combo
I've been to two Pro-Ams and last year's S/SS Combo, and never had a problem at Kinston. The track and races were fine. I've talked to the owner Bobby Smith a couple of times, and he's always been quite pleasant.
I didn't attend this year as I was at Sloan's pulling the motor for a freshen.

Re: Kinston Combo
Did not intend to bash. Started out on the grumpy side this morning after my redlight in Rd 1 and our other car breaking right out of the trailer.
Kinston has an excellent surface. Actually had my quickest 60' and 1/8 mi yesterday. I imagine KDS management wasn't too pleased with the S/SS turnout either. We class guys need to support the combo races as they may go away. Then we will be back to waiting longer for less runs. Still curious, who won? |

Re: Kinston Combo
The only problem with this race is timing. Our off season is too short. There have never been a lot of cars at this race because people start getting ready for next year. The first time I went to Holiday fest was 2002. I think there were about 20-25 cars there then. I've been a few more times and never over 20 cars.
I would like to thank Bobby for trying to make this work for us, and hopefully I will be able to come to the next one. Chip Johnson |

I'll admit the 60 Car Min. posted on the flyer turned me off. We know that 20-25 cars is typical for most Combo events in the region. I'd rather they just do a straight 100% payback, or a "minimum purse or 100%" like Piedmont. That being said, we had like 21 cars there last year, and I got money for making it to the 3rd round, I believe it was, which is cool. $.02,

Re: Kinston Combo
I hate I couldn't race at this event as Bobby really does like having stock and super stock. I went to watch and I counted 14 or 15 cars on the second time run. I agree, the timing of this event really hurts the car count as many of us have our engines out already.

Re: Kinston Combo
Winner was Greg Rowe over Steve Lucas.
BTW. I like the place too. KDS owners and staff are a fine bunch. |

Re: Kinston Combo
Mike , The 60 car MIN was a misprint and i think Bobby went on his site and clarified it .I also said it was a mis print in my other topic .Maybe it will work out anyway .Just too short of a notice on my part letting everyone know about this .Sorry some of you guys were disappointed .We still need to support these kind of races if we can .see ya later //DW sr..PS: MY HOME TRACK AND PROUD OF IT !!!1!!!!
