10.90 1/8 Mile Number Help...

Hoping someone can give me some insight here...

I'm not going to be able to get any 1/4 mile runs before indy...and I'm trying to dial in for 10.90 on 1/8 mile runs. New combo, so I have no data to start with. Here is what I have so far...

The car ran 5.67 @ 123 in the 1/8 this weekend. I would put that at maybe 8.80-8.90 range in the 1/4?

That was my first TT...I put it on the stop for the 2nd. I turned it on at .050...shifted at .100...and had the stop on for 1.500. The stop RPM showed 3700 on the computer. I ran 7.07 @ 118 with those settings. Left it there and was able to make it a couple rounds.

My big question is...what would be a good starting point in the 1/8 for 10.90 with my combo? I don't want to get too technical...just would like somewhere to start.

Any help is appreciated!

They do have T&T on Thursday (1/4) for those interested if it's not raining ...........I don't have a high MPH car so can't help any....

I don't run that kind of MPH either but educated guess would be add another 1.5 on the stop. Somebody running similar numbers and ratio needs to chime in.

As per Tim McAmis website,,, 5.67 in the 1/8th is about a 8.84 in the 1/4.

For what it's worth....Here at our local track, Kyle Kunze runs a tube chassis 67 Nova with a 434. His 1/8 ET last year was 5.67-5.69 and when we went to Topeka for ET Finals, his best ET was 8.91. I cannot recall his mph.
A friend of mine, Jeff, and I went to Great Bend, KS / LODRS #1 last year. He had not run 1/4 mile in a long time, nor used a throttle stop. If your weather station has a TS program, compared to the index, you make 1 "slow" time and 1 "fast" time, and your TS program should give you the amount of time on the stop. He runs 6.50 all out in the 1/8, and had .800 on the stop, Great Bend has a 11.05 s/street index. He nailed the dial 5 times after that.

sounds like you need to talk w/ Dewey. I believe The Wymer Camaro is about the same. He'll be @ Indy.

According to NHRA, the index for Super Street is 10.90 in the 1/4, and 6.95 in the 1/8. That's where I would start.

If you car runs that fast it would be alot easier just run supergas....

Your car is a little faster than mine was in the 1/8th (my old combo went about 6-flat in the eighth). Looking at a time ticket I have here, 7.061 @ 108.31 = 10.615 @ 139.27. You're going 10mph faster than me in the eighth, so you're going to need to slow it down a bunch more. For me, 7.30 in the eighth was approximately equal to 10.90. For you, I would guess that number is going to be closer to 7.50.

So, I think whoever suggested putting another 1.5 seconds in your throttle stop is pretty close. I'd probably start at an additional 1.0 seconds and go from there...

Thanks for everyone's input....7.50 looks to be the closest/most educated start point I have so far. I'll go with that unless someone else comes up with something.
