What was that engine in? Was it installed from the factory? I never heard of an aluminum factory small block.

Re: GM Aluminum Block I D
Guys it is a BOWTIE block---I dunno whether GM ever assembly line installed any Bowtie blocks but I'll bet that they were all aftermarket stuff AND NEVER came in a production vehicle!!! No point running out to your local salvage yard hoping to find one cuz they were/are probably OVER the counter blocks----Comp

Re: GM Aluminum Block I D
How many have to be built before its alowed in SS? It says here 2 were built. All aluminum 350 250hp. And I remember reading somewhere that this engine has 11:1 compression too! Probably a bowtie block...and im assuming of the 50 somthing built only 2 or more got this engine.

Re: GM Aluminum Block I D
Sorry I upset ya Crate but a bowtie part usually means it was an aftermarket part not an assembly line installed part so no need to start scouring the junkyards for that part. Ya probably aren't gonna find one UNLESS some guy installed the part and then the car was junked. By the way Merry Xmas to you and your family I'm gonna have a great one cuz I just got my 2 year update on my Prostate Operation I'M CANCER FREE----A side note to everbody go get yours checked out it "could happen to you!!!!" The Doc found mine during a routine physical to renew my NHRA license--FED387
