Smile Trailer Winch

What is everyone using for a winch in their enclosed trailer?

I bought a 24' Pace Shadow trailer last year, and really want to install a winch. Sort out of necessity, as I seem to break every damn part on my Super Stocker and have had to push it onto the trailer too many times-LOL!

Any help would be appreciated as to what winch to get-to load a 3600 lb Wagon-and maybe pictures of how you installed it.

Thanks very much for any help!

Jeff,

I would recommend a Superwinch 5000. I have used it to pull my 57 Belair on an open trailer and my enclosed trailer. The car is all original and I am sure it weighs much more than your SS wagon.

Jeff,

I can also recommend the Surperwinch 5000. I've had mine for a year and a half and it works like a dream. Get the wireless remote to make loading even easier.

I also have the Superwinch 5000. Do yourself a favor and take it apart BEFORE you install it and grease it up! I had mine for a year when it started squealing like a stuck pig. I called the company and they said to take it apart and grease it up real good! Really?! Anyway I did and it has been perfect ever since. Jim

I have a Superwinch 5000 and I am very pleased with it. It comes with 50' of 1/4" cable and a 30' remote control. You can also purchase a wireless remote control with is very nice. I paid about $380.00 for it from Amazon.

I usually drive the car into the trailer, so I just have a hand operated Dutton Lainson hand winch as a backup, mounted on a pedestal at the front of the trailer. I also have a snatch block in case the car won't roll easily. Even though your car weighs 3600, the pull will be less since it is rolling, not being lifted. Use cable with breaking strength well over 3600 though.

I have used a Superwinch S 4000 for many years.I can't imagine what it would be like to have an enclosed trailer without a winch.

I also can't imagine what it would be like to not have an electric tongue jack, but I still see tons of people without them either.

I'm getting old,I guess.
