Re: Comp cams short travel lifters
Have tried three sets. They were all over the board on travel.
Set One Pumped down while cranking engine and bent many pushrods Set Two Pumped down about 1000 ft. and Killed 5 MPH each rum. Set Three Have about .200 travel and something wrong with plunger so did not try. I showed them to Rep at trailer several Nationals and he was too busy to even look at them and really not interested. He would not take them back with him and said to send them back to Summit where i BOUGHT THEM. I talked to teck on phone and he said I was wrong about lifters and the problems did not exist.! I am going to find another Cam Co. after many years of using their stuff even if it costs me a couple on ET. I am, back to Modifying my own lifters.

Re: Comp cams short travel lifters
I have been trying to get a hold of Alex left messages. Shermans is what I have in the motor in the car they have been great for me, plan on getting more. The guys at the machine shop ask me if I know of anybody running them. I didn't see any spec's on there web site.

Re: Comp cams short travel lifters
All you have to do is call Comp and ask for Tim. They'll put you through, Tim will get back to you if you get his voice mail.

Re: Comp cams short travel lifters
I talked to Comp this afternoon.
The conversation did not go too far before the rep asked me: Where did I buy the lifters? I told him I purchased them thru Summit like most of the stuff I buy. He then asked me since I did not buy them from Comp directly...... How did I not know that Summit did not put lifters from some OTHER vendor into their boxes by mistake or they were returns that had been switched by Summit before my purchase. I almost fell out of my chair when he told me that they were probably not his product. We work a long week out here and it makes more sense to buy from Summit in the evening than to find time to talk to fifty different manufactures during our work day. I told him I had bought three sets and did not think it likely that all three had been switched and the boxes and lifters looked brand new. The conversation went down hill from there...I told him I did not want any money but want to buy one more set from them direct and have them INSPECTED by someone prior to shipping for quality control and I was willing to pay WHATEVER it would cost. He did not want to go to that trouble for me as they just did not have the time for all of that. There went $400 or $500 down the drain! I left a message for Tim Cole and maybe I will try again as I am trying to race the new Aspen this Friday. It is not that I am too stupid to modify my lifters. By the time I buy two sets and take the plungers out to make a single set it cost more that buying a low travel set. I WILL not shim them solid like a lot of what I have seen....They have to still be somewhat operational. It is cheaper and easier to buy them finished. I am not a engine builder or machinist like a lot of my competitors but just a old Hillbilly trailer builder.
