Default Jetting & consistency

I have heard people say you need 3 jet settings for a season , (keep in mind, not looking for best et) Did an A/F on the dyno so I know I am a little on the rich side (so if conditions get really good I will not slow down) However I do not understand how jetting leaner in hot weather high DA will make you more consistent ? Maybe 60' better, run faster, but that's about it.Can someone explain this to me ? Thanks for your time.

I can't say why, but I have found that running a little rich the car is less affected by weather changes. A lot depends on your combo, compression, camshaft and carb size play a big part in consistency. Get out there and test!

Talking Re: Jetting & consistency

Basically if you are running a little rich in average weather, when you race in bad air (less oxygen) it will make you even richer therefore slowing you down. How much it slows you down depends on many other things related to your engine. On the other hand, when you find yourself in great weather (low altitude) with more oxygen, your slightly rich combo will automatically pick up. Theoretically. Remember, it's always better to be a little rich than too lean! Jim
