1976 nova drive shaft length
Can anyone give me the correct ujoint to ujoint driveshaft length for a 1976 Nova with an 8.5 10 bolt rear and a stock metric 200 trans. Car had a 7.5 10 bolt and I need to modify the drive shaft.
Thanks

That is something you are just going to have to measure yourself. Put the trans yoke in all the way, Then pull it out 1-1 1/2 inch's. Measure and you are done.

One thing you have to make sure is if you have the car on jack stands place the 2 stands in the back under the rear end housing that way you will get the right measurement. this might help also http://markwilliams.com/detail.aspx?ID=1378.

Do you have the original shaft? You could very likely find what you need at the "Pick a Part" once you measure it up.

Re: 1976 nova drive shaft length
Mark,
I have the original shaft but believe it to be to long. I have found a few in the local yards while hunting other parts, but most were way to rusty and my original is in good shape. There is a good local shop that will shorten and balance for $50. Should have the new rear finished this week, so I will install it and measure per the suggestions. I found a post in a Nova web site says it should be 51 1/2. We'll see. Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
