Ls1 tuneup help
Need help with ls1 camaro stocker. The engine runs well and seems to make good top end power but is slow to the 1/8 mile low 6.70s 1.45 60 fts. We have tried 2 different trans and 2 different converters similar results. We believe it is in the tune up.Not asking for anyone's speed secret just want to make sure we don't have something out in left field. Thanks.

Re: Ls1 tuneup help
What Mph does it run at 1/8 and 1/4?
What does convertor stall too and what type of trans and first gear ratio? What is the weight of the car? What engine management system do you have?

Re: Ls1 tuneup help
According to the data logger 5700 rpms the trans is a ati 350. It is not my car so I will have to check if it is standard low gear or 2.75 low gear

Re: Ls1 tuneup help
Sounds like the convertor is pretty close. It should definitely have a 2.75 first gear, and the final gear should be atleast 4.88. You need to look at the data log and check the Air to fuel ratio on the convertor flash and down track. The A/F ratio should be around 13.0 +/- .5 depending on what the car likes. If it is in the tune up, it would most likely be off on the hit of the throttle and into the flash of the convertor to have the 60ft that far off. You should be running atleast 10.40s with that mph. If possible, I would highly recommend changing to FAST Fuel injection in the future. Their software is much more user friendly, and their service at the track is unbeatable.

Re: Ls1 tuneup help
I agree with you. It should be going 40s in the summer and hopefully 20s in the good air. The a/f is right at 13 at the top of high gear it is in the 11s at the hit which is between 2800 and 3000 off the foot. Timing right now is 38 at the hit

Re: Ls1 tuneup help
11 is pretty fat even if you want some fuel there for the load. Lean it out to 12.X and see if it picks up.
A good tuner would get you in the ballpark in a few pulls on a chassis dyne, know it's a hike but Danbury Chassis Dyno is very good.

Re: Ls1 tuneup help
That is what I was wondering if that was too rich at the hit or did they throw a bunch of fuel right away and then let it lean out as the rpms increased. This is my first fuel injected car.

Re: Ls1 tuneup help
It sounds like it's pretty rich you need to try to lean out the areas that are showing rich the air fuel ratio should stay around 13.0. You may never see the ideal 60ft with a 350 transmission. I would say ideal 60ft for a 200 transmission running 10.40s would be around 1.35.
