Got my wheelie bars all welded up today. I use the S&W standard 48" bars, then I cut and modify several portions to better fit the Corvette. The nine inch rear already had brackets in place on the rear. I welded up all of the housing components prior to narrowing and welding the ends on last. Now that they are welded up and fit perfect, I will disassemble, box them up....and off to chrome!

I've been working in the rear of the car. When I had put the car on the ground, it seemed a little high in the back with the new leaf springs. I know a lot of weight still has to be put in the car as it's just a shell. But I removed two of the four leafs from each side

I made provisions for maximum wheelie bar clearance. I notched the rear frame cross member and welded in material for a nice finish. The modification allows the wheelie bars to travel higher, but stop prior to hitting the cars body

Raw is cool, but chrome is my favorite color....especially when it lays on top of red! That combination cannot be beat on Race Cars, Hot Rods and Fire Trucks. LOL Actually Chrome is clear, the nickel is the silver and usually over copper base. Each step polished to a high luster

Wade,,, I've enjoyed following this build. I don't get east very often, so I wonder if you plan on having the car at Columbus next May for the Northern Class Nationals? I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of the cars and meeting the people that are on here at the event.
Keep up the good work,,, and I'm wondering if you'll need to put a 3rd leaf back in once the car settles.

It is certainly possible that I may have to add a leaf back into the mix. And maybe not even the normally next leaf, but maybe the #4 shorter leaf. There are several combinations of leaf springs arrangement, that will provide adjustable advantage. That, supported with (Strange Engineering) external adjustable shocks should allow me to tailor the rear suspension to the desired static and dynamic performance conditions.

I would like to support Michael's Northern Class Nationals event with the car.

I gotta spray the under side Red, then put it back on the frame. Once I do that I can tie the cage into the chassis. Then I can start making the cool stuff...the real cool stuff! I'll be back on it soon
