SS/GT classification question
I'm not well read on the classification of GT applications so I am curious which classes a 68 camaro hardtop would fall into with a 69 350/255 automatic? What would the scale weight minimums be with driver?
(I can't open the guides currently with this heap of a computer that I am using) Thank you in advance!

Re: SS/GT classification question
Looks like it would be at GT/EA. 10.00 X 294HP + 170 = 3110. You of course can run it as a D or F combo as well.

Re: SS/GT classification question
Bob,
Thank you for the reply. I was under the impression that the first generation Camaros had to be classified in GT with the heaviest V-8 combo available, am I wrong about that? I hope I am but like I wrote earlier I'm not well read on GT classification guidelines.

Re: SS/GT classification question
"Shipping weight will be determined by using the power to weight factor
of the vehicle with the heaviest gasoline engine and appropriate transmission..." Quoted from 2011 NHRA Rulebook, Section 11B, page 12. It would seem that, for example, a 1968 Camaro running in GT with an automatic transmission, regardless of engine choice, would be classified on the basis of the shipping weight of the car when equipped with the heaviest gasoline engine that was coupled with an automatic in a 1968 Camaro. That would be, I think, a 396 engine with TH400 transmission. That would be the case even if the car were run with a small block in a GT class and would certainly be different than the shipping weight of the same car equipped with a 350" engine w/PG trans.
