Thumbs down? The new V10 Challengers are impressive performers but they sound lousy.

I agree with you Chris, I ran a Lunati RL stage 3 .520 lift "stocker cam" some years back and driving through the pits at 2,000 rpm everybody turned to see what was making that bad *** thump passing by them. Made alot of m.p.h. too, more than any other cam I have ever used. Plan to use it again in the future. Craig stk 3201

The max wedge is definitely one nasty sounding beast. For a small block the '68 340 Barracuda stick car has a really lumpy cam. It definitely makes you wonder whether it is a stocker or not.

The 5.7-6.1 Hemi has a really nasty sound, and it should considering the compression and cam it has.
I'm a little partial to those 305's lol.

Thumbs up Re: Best Sounding Camshaft Stock or Super Stock

Well we have discovered one thing for sure ,and that is everybody likes their own camshafts as their (our ) choice.
Now , for the best looking 4-door stocker , i personally like the 66 Chevy II.. (wonder why?) lol

Seems to me not only the cam but the headers make a distinct sound. The lighter the gauge the better, merge collector makes the pop a lil cleaner as well with the square lobe. On my oldsmobiles I like to hear the John Deere tractor roll (overlap) thats what I call it, then I know I have everything close LOL

i agree with smitty on that lunati cam for a 351c. actually is a old ultradyne roller. we had it in our 351 mach 1 and we had both chevy and mopar guys saying it was the baddest sounding car in the pits. we have a comp cam now and it sounds docile. however it performs much better!

Next to the Max Wedge I think the Hemi A990 cars sound wicked and since it's basically the same body as the MW cars I wonder if the shape of the engine compartment doesn't have something with the harmonics.

The other Hemi cars just don't have the same sound to me.
