Default TNT Super Series to compete at Grand Bend Nitro Jam!!!

Super Rod AND Hot Rod racers can participate in specialty race!

For the second consecutive year, the Joe's Transmission TNT Super Series will compete during the Mopar IHRA Nitro Jam Nationals this weekend. Grand Bend Motorplex will host a complete TNTSS 10.90 drag race on Friday July 20th presented by Rosehill Auction House.

Paying $1000 to win, this is race #7 on the 2012 TNTSS schedule and counts towards the series points championship. It will offer all of the features the TNTSS is known for - including round money, specialty awards and contingency postings - PLUS a chance to get into the Performance Improvements Race of Champions in September.

Last year's event was a huge success with 35 cars in TNTSS competition. "We had pretty much every Hot Rod and Super Rod car that was on the property Friday afternoon run our race," said Ted Barnes, TNTSS Director. "We're looking to hit 40 this year!" And since the TNTSS has no minimum weight and allows left-hand steer roadsters, they have a good chance to do just that.

"We're so excited to be partnering with Joe and Moe Passero from Rosehill Auction House to make this event happen," added Ted. "They are long-time drag racers themselves, strong supporters of the grass roots sportsman racer and they have been behind the TNT Super Series since it began."

Currently TNTSS points leader Jon (J.J.) Jablonski sits with 410 points and will be looking to widen his four point lead over second place Chris Van Baalen. Third place is 2011 Rookie of the Year Harry Phelps with 378. Last year's Series Champion David Surmatchewski is right behind him at 377 and Tom Coonly is in fifth with 370.

Of the 44 teams in the TNTSS in 2012, the ones to watch for are Andrew Stirk, co-drivers Jeff Sobczynski & Marc Vezina and Roy Lister. These guys have only competed in 5 of the 6 events so far and will catapult into the top ten once the waiver weeks are considered.

Joining the Joe's Transmission TNT Super Series on Friday will also be the Can Am Stock/Super Stock Series and a qualifying session in the PMRA Pro Modifieds. Gates open at 9am on Friday with the first of two TNTSS qualifying sessions at 4pm and eliminations to follow. To enter the TNTSS race at Grand Bend, you must be registered for the Nitro Jam event.
