Ken, after your encounter with the 9" aluminum housing, did NHRA say anything about the aluminum 8 3/4 housing in the Mopars? Mopar pays for that in stock. thanks, Dyno

Dyno,

I was told, if your car did not come with it, you can not use it. I was also told the new cars that use them are purpose built stockers and even if their parts are sold as replacements parts by the manufacture we can not use them.

I think two things need to happen, lets us run parts that have no performance advantage and are replacements or change the rule to clarify what we can and can not use.

If someone new builds a stocker, he or she is in for a rude awaking if they go by the rule book.

Ken, i thought the rule read any rear end as long as it it's the same corporation.

Greg, that's what I thought. I'm going to send a letter to NHRA, respectfully asking them to reconsider the use of an aluminum center sections.

I will post a thread with a draft of the letter to be sent to NHRA. I will stick it to the top and ask members if they are willing to be listed on the letter.

Ken, it's called selective enforcement.

Kenny

So this means that the new Mustangs can't use a cast-iron
center section, or stock 9" housing?????

Greg, seems that way, but they did tell Robert Pond to change his at the Winternationals.

John, that's excellent observation, they do come with 9 inch rears but they are braced. It would be interesting to see if they would be told to change, if they had a steel case and a none braced rear.
