Here are the early results and a winner photo from the first S/SS Combo of the season at Pacific Raceways in Kent, Washington. The weather was perfect with temps in the high 70s and lots of sun and great cars. We all had a great time and even the early out guys were still around to congratulate the winner.
Martha Thompson of Puyallup Washington lit the bottom bulb early in the bracket race but found nothing but win lights in the Stock/Super Stock Combo. Her 81 Chevy GT Super Stocker qualified in the number 7 slot and ran up to take the final with a win over Dave Jung in the number 14 car on the ladder. Dave came down from Surrey, BC for the race. More photos later. ![]()

Nice shots,, Dale. Thanks for posting,,, but in the interest of accurate reporting, Terry Anderson drives a red '67 Superstock ChevyII. The blue '66 is Terry Johnson. Also congrats to Martha.

Hope you enjoyed the Open. I had too much outdoor stuff to take care of here before the rains return.

Very nice photos Dale. The car Martha was in is actually Jody Lang's S/S car and rumor has it that he has lost his ride. First race for Martha in a trans brake car. She has raced before, but did an outstanding job for being 1st time. The weather was great and I even had a job at this event. I was in charge of recording the winners each round and getting the info back to James Boyce. If needed, I also informed racers of who they had next round. I had a ball and felt like a real part of the show, even without a car.
As a side note - Dave Jung had some drama before qualifying even started. NO OIL PRESSURE - YIKES. With the help of fellow racers got the problem solved (at least for yesterday) and went on to be the runner-up. Today I ventured over to Bremerton and had another awesome day. 17 cars in the SS/Stock Combo with Pete Oliviero taking the win over J. Todd Gale. Also got a chance to see Ryan Warter's new Joint Venture car make some shakedown runs. Weather was a little cooler than Pacific on Saturday, but still very awesome for this time of year.

I'm back. Danny, the new car is a 94? Pontiac Grand Am small block stick shift car (D/SM). They have had the car for about a month and thrashed very hard to make this debut. It has had five owners in as many different states, but was raced very little. The car was bought as a roller and the Camaro was stripped to finish the new car. The Camaro had been raced for 25 years, so was due for replacing. The new car responded well to changes they made, so (with their knowledge) should be running quick times very soon. Good luck to them and this new car.
Yes, congrats to Ray on the double up. I can't remember all the names, but several local racers had VERY good weekends between races at Pacific and Bremerton. As a side note - Both events that I attended (Saturday @ Pacific and Sunday @ Bremerton) had many, many racers, but there was still a ton of pit space at both tracks.

Danny, the new car is a 2005 grand am. Built bye eastexas race cars, same builder as Camaro. There were a few issues today, but hopefully we can get it figured out in Boise.
