GM three speed automatic with brake for SS
Racers,
the engine combination I am considering [350/360/325] SBC requires a three speed trans. Tell me about your experience with trans brake with three speed. It will be in a 3100 pound door car, expected ET 9.70 range What is a common trans folks are racing for this situation?

Larry, I have used a Rossler T350, and a ProTrans, T350. Both work great. ProTrans is a couple hundredths quicker for me.

Re: GM three speed automatic with brake for SS
I am using a T350 with a brake in my 3100 lb SS/CA Corvette. It's been pretty reliable. Only thing I would change from what I have now is to upgrade to a clean neutral valve body/shifter. It seems all the good transbrake valve bodies for T350s are reverse pattern.

Clean Neutral is nice.

Kilgore Superlite works well , he will build it with a Reid Case if you want it .

Re: GM three speed automatic with brake for SS
Two things...
First, I heard a long time ago that the low-reverse drum has to change directions on the 1-2 shift in a TH350, and that makes the 350 trans less quick. I'm not stating that as a fact, so don't mob me, please. Second, doesn't anybody like McClay's THM 200s? |

Terry,
if I can run a Powerglide with the 350/360/325 that will sell the deal. I would much rather run the glide than a 3 speed.

Re: GM three speed automatic with brake for SS
Doesn't reverse direction on the 1-2 shift , but does come to a stop . Then spins up the same direction as the engine when making a 2-3 shift . The Superlight reduces that inertia dramatically for both those shifts , that is why it's so fast !

Re: GM three speed automatic with brake for SS
Which part are you talking about? There is no drum for low/reverse only drums are forward and direct.
