Sfi 200 metric case
I was looking to see how much interest there would be in an SFI approved TH 200 Metric case.
I would think with all the people using them in stock & super stock, a corporation that builds this type of case would stand to make a nice profit given the new 10.99 rules? Would you buy one if it was available, instead of using a blanket or shield? I'd take one!!

Re: Sfi 200 metric case
I see ATI just released a SFI case for a 350THM . They may be a good place to ask, if there is enough interest in the 200 .

Re: Sfi 200 metric case
While there is not an SFI case for the T-200, if you want a stronger case, if you can find one, use the BOP T-200-4 case that was used on GM cars that were powered with the Oldsmobile 350 Diesel engine.
The bellhousing and case is way stronger and even heavier because the additional material in the case. |

Re: Sfi 200 metric case
The point of the SFI case is not only because it’s stronger, it is so you don’t have to purchase a blanket or shield. A different production case doesn’t solve this issue

Re: Sfi 200 metric case
Correct, however, there has been an issue with cases cracking and the reason why they sell braces to prevent the cracking.

Re: Sfi 200 metric case
Yes they did. GM cars, including Cadillac that were powered with the Olds 260 and 350 Diesel engines, depending on the year, had either the THM-200, THM-200C or THM-200-4R transmission. All the cases were BOP and beefier.
However, the first year the engine was introduced, 1978, the transmission was a T-250. I learned about it from a former colleague of mine, that was a drivetrain/transmission engineer at GM. On the side, he rebuilt transmissions at home. He heard me talking on the phone with another racer about the T-200 trans and he asked me if I needed a stock transmission. Also gave me a dissertation of all the GM transmissions and told me he had a BOP T-200C and he rebuilt and didn't have a use for it. He shared the transmission had a beefier case for the diesel application. When I picked it up, he was not kidding. The bellhousing and case were beefier and did not look like the case of a T-200 I had purchased from TurboAction. |
