Thumbs up BIR S/SS COMBO #1 in 30 days

I attended the BIR racer committee meeting in St Cloud on Sat the 14th.
We went over all the things that we talked about at the last meeting, that are now implemented in the BIR program.

Not much change for S/SS combo group, other than a change in the run order to eliminate the "Round Robbin" in the later rounds.

This year:
We have our own dedicated tech line for 2 hrs. on Sat. mornings
(please fill out tech card COMPLETED with SFI #S,Ect.!)\
Its a good idea to put your index on the card to easy things in the tower, especially if you are changing classes.

Scale and heads-up rules apply.

We will get 2 qualifying runs on Sat. ( we will be 3rd out just like last year.)

We will race to completion on Sat.

Should we have a rain-out, the race will not be made up.
points are tallied up to the last round run.

Your points will be counted as a "best of"
with one (1) (your lowest score) race points waved....
(this is due to the conflict with the last BIR race and the Div. 5 LODRS in Earlvill, IA.)
You CAN race all the BIR Combos, but your lowest round wining race will be waved.

BIR has purchased a new track prep machine to lay rubber on the track like the NHRA uses for national events.( one that spins the tires backwards behind a large tractor.)

All at the meeting were in STRONG AGREEMENT that the run order MUST be followed and posted for ALL to see and understand. This will end confusion and stop delays.

Testing and License runs are a part of the run order.
(no more stopping the whole show whenever someone who is testing or licensing gets ready or feels like making a pass.)This has been a thorn in the side of everyone RACING at BIR for years, and it needed to be stopped or controlled some how, and this seemed to be the best answer for now.

A new policy for ANY and ALL complainants or questions will be in place...
All Issues must be taken to the Tech. Department.
NOT THE TOWER!!!

We have a new person heading up Race Control in the tower
and it looks (to me) to be a move in the right direction!
I am confident that things will run as smoothly as can be.

I would like to take this time to thank everyone who made last year a success!

We still need to keep our car count average OVER 28 to keep this deal going.

BIR has kept there end of the deal for us!
Now we need to keep ours!

Get your car ready and lets go racing!

I am excited and just can't wait to get out and smell that race gas and burnt rubber!
Who is going to be the "fast one" this year?
Any new cars? I know some have been "stimulating the economy" with new engines.
Any old cars in retirement coming out to play?
Think about it.....

We are gong to have fun!!! Let's make it happen!!!

Thanks Again, and GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL IN 2012!!
See you on May 12, 2012 for BIR S/SS COMBO #1

Glen DeMenge

PS. Please feel feel to call with any questions.

Thanks Glen for all of your work putting this together, can't wait for the first combo to enjoy the sounds and smell. A lot of these cars running at the BIR combos are big hitters winning divisionals and nationals,so it must be paying off.

Thank you! and YES It can't hurt to run a quality local race with a decent payout.
Like you said take a look at the winners from the group that regularly attends the BIR S/SS combs and wellll... You do the math!

Just so we are clear...

Hi James
If it is a complete rain out Saturday we will get to race on Sunday.
If it is a rain-out on Sunday, the race will not be finished OR made up.

You will get points for any rounds you have won up to the time of the rain-out.

I hope everyone can understand this.
Sorry for the confusion.
