EGT #'s on throttle stop
Does anyone pay attention to EGT's on throttle stop? I'm wondering what kind of temps a person should see. Sunset 582 on gas with Stinnett 1050 carb

Re: EGT #'s on throttle stop
I use O2 's now ,used to have EGT'S . Besides my own data ,I see a lot of other racers data graphs. .... I can tell you most carbs will go very lean while on the stop .
the only carb I ever had that did not go lean was an APD Max Speed . EGT's around 1275 and O2's around 12.5-13 to 1 are common ...

Re: EGT #'s on throttle stop
Thanks for the info. My numbers are so cold that I don't trust them; 650 -700 when I drop. Makes me wonder if I have a setting wrong in my racepak. I only run one egt so small sample size also.

Re: EGT #'s on throttle stop
Upon closer review of my data, my egt's are 650 at the hit, 750 coming off the stop, and 950 range at finish line. Sorry about that. I should know better than to rely on my memory

Re: EGT #'s on throttle stop
That's really cold , that's measuring right at the port ?
If that reading is accurate I'd think the car would almost look like it was rolling coal down the track. I'd suspect a faulty EGT probe or wrong setup on the Racepak configuration .

Re: EGT #'s on throttle stop
Interesting. The probe is about 2" down the pipe on #5. I've heard that being too close to the head can create a false reading but more likely to be high than low.
The plugs look ok, the cruise is very flat at 4400 and the 60's are pretty consistent but the car is very difficult to dial in changing conditions and humidity seems to really affect this setup. I've gone 180mph in good air bracket racing but only 170-172 on the stop. Timing @ 34'. 1050 carb with 91 main jets. Appreciate the feedback |

Re: EGT #'s on throttle stop
that kind of performance swing usually indicates a over rich tune up , plus a rich setup usually is very consistent on the cruise rpm.
Have you talked to Stinnett about it ?

Re: EGT #'s on throttle stop
I too, run a Stinnett carb on both my super gas and super comp car. What jets do you have in it?
