Yeah, lots of quick cars running nearly a second or more under.
Better be careful about the political statement. lol I've had threads deleted for religious & racial comments. Most forums don't allow any discussions of religion or politics, tho some let more stuff go than others. I suppose it depends on the moderator. |

Re: Indy First Experience!
Randy should have no problem fitting right in with those 1 second under combos. 😉

Re: Indy First Experience!
I signed up for Indy today I was surprised how few were signed up in stock or most classes for that matter. Not looking forward to the 2100 mile trip but I am getting my new trailer delivered to me there a few days before the start I am looking forward to that. 24 ft Intech Icon loaded nice replacement for my open hauler. Last time at Indy was Sept 1972 It has changed since then. Leaving for Sonoma next week for the double that place is fast.

Re: Indy First Experience!
Indy will be the most fun you ever had with knots in your stomach, but when you see your name on the final sheet of 128 all is good. If you win class, that's why most of us enter the "Big Go", all is GREAT! At the scales is when the fun part begins, the invitation to the "Barn", if your lucky. Talk about big knots in your stomach, and maybe a little doubt about something on the car, you will have them. Remember without NHRA Tech. a class win would mean a whole lot less. Some of the best words you will hear in the barn,"We are done you can but it back together, enjoy your class win!"
There is nothing like pulling your stuff apart in front of God and everybody, that's a memory that is taken to the grave with pride. Hope you took notes because you have to put it back together and race first round 8:00 AM the next day. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!! |

One of my favorites was while talking to a friend racer who was helping another racer I'll not name in teardown by removing the carb and intake from his stocker. As he removed the intake while we were talking the owner walked over and said racers didn't like anyone looking at the ports. I laughed, and told my friend I'd see him later. Now who would care if you saw a factory part that cannot legally be touched? Seeing the smiling faces of all the class winners posing for their pictures is a treat too! |

Re: Indy First Experience!
The same as the year before......1.......it’s hard to find 180 racers that want to spend over 8 days of their life in a field outside of Clermont, Indiana....Now , anyone remember the MOROSO party at a remote field back in the day.....it pegged the FUN meter.....

Re: Indy First Experience!
According to Buck (before my time) the MOROSO party was the best fun ever - haybales for bleachers,, bands, BBQ, naked girls (not sorry I missed that part) beer and more beer - 17 cars in SS/J. That was real racing in the good old days.
