Default MASGA / MASCA / MASSA continue at the Grove May 18th & 19th

By Rob Keister
MASGA / MASCA / MASSA Communications

The Newly formed .90 Super Series will visit Maple Grove Raceway on May 18th & 19th, 2013. The .90 Super Series consists of the Mid Atlantic Super Comp Association, Mid Atlantic Super Gas Association and the newly formed Mid Atlantic Super Street Series. All Three of these series will be part of the Fourth Annual Super Circuit Showdown.

All 3 series will compete on Saturday & Sunday to give everyone a nice test & tune the weekend before the Lucas Oil Divisional Race that will visit Maple Grove the weekend following. The best part about these races is you will be able to leave your rigs at the track for the following weekend. Maple Grove will have an area roped off for those who are staying for the following weekend so once you are completed on Sunday you can just jump in car and drive home and save on gas.

The 2012 version of the Sportsman Circuit Showdown had a local feel in the winners circle as in Super Comp drivers Tom Boyle (West Chester, Pa) and Joey Cambria (Shillington, Pa) claimed victory. Boyle claimed victory over Watertown, NY resident Rich Dorr while Cambria continued his dominance at Maple Grove with a victory over Levittown, NY resident Dave Layne. In Super Gas Pete Luciano (Malvern, Pa) and Hank Smith (Leesport, Pa) claimed victory at the event. Luciano took down Smith on Saturday’s portion and prevented him from the “Double-Up” as Smith would take down Jay Cepelka (Rippon, WV) in Sunday’s final.

MASSA is the newest of the three groups and will be in its 1st full season for all 10.90 heads-up index racers. MASSA is open to all NHRA Legal Cars and the one thing that makes MASSA different from the NHRA Rules is there is no Minimum Weight Rule and all Cars must have a roof and working doors. They will run on a true .500 Pro Tree.

Gates will open at 4pm on Friday the 17th for anyone who would like to get set-up early and will be open till 10 or 11pm. Maple Grove does charge a small spectator fee for those who are coming in at night. On Saturday the 18th & Sunday the 19th Gates will open at 9am with time runs starting around 10-10:30. Gate fee will be $30.00 for Driver and $15.00 for Crew. All Association fees will be paid to Rob Keister (Super Street & Comp) or Pete Luciano (Super Gas). You can also find all info on Facebook.com...just search for the associations.

Hope to see a lot of racers out for a great time at the Grove!

Correction on the gate time for Saturday and Sunday! Gates will open at 8am now and time runs to begin at 9am! Weather looks awesome for the weekend with highs in the 70's!

Unfortunately Mother Nature was the big winner this weekend at Maple Grove. What was supposed to turn out as a nice day on Saturday slowly turned into a dance with raindrops all day. All racers got 1 time run and went straight into 1st round. Unfortunately, with rain moving into the area and eventually falling on the Super Comp Racers as they were being paired for 1st round the call was made to call the race for the night. Sunday was no better as a light mist fell over the track and forced officials to call the event.

The decision was made to make-up the event on August 24th & 25th, 2013 once again at Maple Grove. The .90 Series will run along with Dave Ley's Stock/Super Stock Showdown and the Sunoco Money Trail both days.
