Default 4 speed tranny gear difference

Good evening. With a 4 speed manual tranny, how much difference would I see going from a 3.19 low gear, (written down, looks like it could be 3.17 or 3.19), to a 3.29 low gear? I'm pretty new to manual transmissions, so I have a pretty steep learning curve I expect. Thanks.

This really depends on the combination and some factors like hp, weight, tire size, etc. if you are talking about a SS/C with a rat motor, I personally think 3.29 is likely to be too low of a gear if the rear gear is optimized already.

A small block stocker would love a 3.29 on the other hand.

Thanks for the input. I came across one I was considering to pick up as a spare. I'd end up having to spend more money on it to make it what I feel I need. Decided to wait for a bit.
