Question 79 Dodge Aspen

When looking at what my aspen would be classified under it shows 3 different E58 engines. How do you know what one to go with and I see the main difference is in the cam shafts used.

The small cam (.420 ) AND the large Cam (.460 ) are BOTH
rated at 289 HP.

There is no reason NOT to run the large Cam at same HP rating
as an extra .040 lift is significant.

A lot of people have change their cars to earlier year Aspens
AT 284 HP. Basically just a Grille and Tail Light change as I recall.

We prefer the 318 230 HP combo in our Aspen (78 to 80 years).

If I understood it correctly, as a 1978 model Aspen 360-4, you can run either a small or a big TQ. 1979 is small TQ only. No body trim changes required.

Correct................But no observed performance difference in
our testing of the two. 750 CFM is pretty adequate for the 360 or
318 combos.
