Default Th350 trans brake

Hello y'all, I'm the process of installing a brake in my th350, I'm stuck at the point where you swap the high gear oem springs with the stiffer springs that come with the kit, the kit is a JW. Now my problem is trying to get the stiffer springs on the spring retainer. The oem springs had to be removed with a screwdriver. And after the removal there is a tampered edge that the new springs will not go over. Is there a trick to getting them to pop over this, or do you just disreguard it all together and set the retainer on the springs and go with it. Any help would be awesome thanks.

I would take a countersink or maybe a cone shaped grinding stone and take away some of that peined over metal .Just leave enough to locate each spring..Once it's together, it won't matter.
I suspect they were made like that for the assembly line.

That's what I was hoping, I didn't want to knock down any edges unless I had too. Thanks for the quick reply.
