Request Details MUST be the original head ending in the number 083. GOOD Non rebuilt cores are requested. Can be bare, but castings must be non-modified. These are for NHRA Stock and SuperStock Classes and will be heavily modified when finished. Our shop is looking for good cores to start the process.

This is the third major supplier of used cylinder heads I have asked about the 083's.Same answer. None available or they will not separate these desirable castings from the rest of the motor.

I have the 083 heads om my car but they have only had screw in studs, stainless valves and good springs put in them. I need to know who to send them to for stocker prep.

I doubt anyone of the big suppliers will sell you the complete engine until they have rebuilt it for sale to public. Who knows what all they have done to the heads in the process. Quite the roll of the dice.

Guys ; Those 083 's. also came on 1987 Camaro/ firebird 4bbl cars.
I had the car and a 2nd set of heads for yrs. Finally gave them away.
My camaro also had roller lifters from the factory. yep it did. but not in the spec sheet!!

The scarce heads are 87-92 Camaro and Firebird with the optional 350 cu in L-98 engine. I went to the dealer and purchased a new set in 2014. Inside the box was casting # 217. GM had replaced the 083's with 217's. Same GM part number on the box, but different casting inside the box. Real bummer when the 217's were even thinner and more scalloped than the original. If you notice in the NHRA guide the 217 is indeed listed as an option. After running thru the hoops to get the superseded pts approved and built, they only lasted a few weeks before being sent back to Rays Crack Service for leak repairs. After the 3rd repair in a couple months Ray hated to tell me a new set of 6000 dollar heads needed to be junked, but he was right. Every few runs they poked holes the size of pencil erasers in them.

Jeff I've got a few sets of the 217's if you would like to take another stab at it lol otherwise they're sitting waiting for the price of scrap to go higher.

You're thinking of the 081 casting 305 head, these guys are looking for the 350 version casting 083. Oddly I had an 87 cutlass with the same engine you speak of, 305 with roller cam, 081 heads, aluminum 4 bbl intake
