We are very serious. I doubt any rational person would like to be anywhere near someone with this virus. Will large events be cancelled this year because of this virus? Who knows. But I will not be surprised if they are, and that includes nhra.

Here in Seattle I can tell you, people are taking it seriously. Being over 70 myself, I'm thinking of loading up the Stocker and leave for Vegas weeks earlier than normal to get out of town. There's got to be a couple of tracks to test at before Vegas.

That is exactly correct -

This is a Chinese attack on our economy and the media is falling for it.

IMHO (In My Humble Opinion)

Covid -19 is not the Common Flu..

The Flu’s can be dealt with because we know how it behaves and mutates.
Nobody has any information how to control Covid-19.
It gets in your lungs and you do not deal with it quickly.
It can quickly reach 50% Pulmonary Fibrosis and then you are in trouble.

A key observation, some people can carry it without any affect.
But another person exposed to that carrier can get sick.

To give you a sense of scale...of Epidemic
After WW1 our soldiers came home.
They brought back a bad strain of the Flu (N1H1)
It became the 1918 Influenza Epidemic
Deadly for people between 20-40 years old.
One third of the entire world was infected.
Millions died..way more than all the military losses in WW1.

Pay attention...I put out a bulletin to all our employees.
Got recommendation from friends in medical industry in California.
One simple thing to do is sip water often.
This reduces exposure from breathing and collected in the mouth.
Swallowing washes any infection to the stomach.
The acid in the stomach kills the Virii.

Be more diligent keeping hands and face clean.
We cleaned of all our computers and office equipment.
Keeping extra bottle of Windex and towels and hand wipes.

Excellent post Dan. Thank you for sharing the information with us. This virus is a lethal monster that must be contained. The death rate for seasonal flu infections is about .000967% of those who are infected. The Coronavirus was killing .03% of those infected prior to containment measures being implemented.

Thank you Bruce:
There is test a person can do to detect Pulmonary distress.
Take a deep breath and hold it for 10 seconds.
If you are forced to cough chances are there is something is going on.
If there is discomfort you got something going on.
Get to a Doctor, now!

We were warned a long time a go this was coming.
Actions were late, draconian measures were implemented in some counties.
The medical professionals knew what was going on.
Like all infections there is lag time to catch up with this.
Lack of awareness, slowness to implement made it worse.

Here in the USA it was Ignorance, no leadership, key positions not filled, the right people deliberately not being put in key positions.
Plus the supporting participation of disinformation media actors have put us in serious state of affairs.

Dan

This panic-demic is being pushed by the same media that created worldwide fears over Y2k. They have politicized the virus for their own agenda.

I spoke to my sister in law who is an emergency room RN and my brother in law that's an ER surgeon, they work in different parts of the country with different political views. They both said it's being completely blown out of proportion, it's just another flu outbreak that will sicken many people and be fatal to the weak and elderly just like other viruses.

I am taking a few extra precautions the same as I do during any other flu season.

At first, folks in Northern Italy approached the virus the same way as your family members. However, this morning, Italy put 16,000,000 people in quarantine and put Northern Italy on lock down. Yeah, it's all blown out of proportion.

I don't think it's fair to compare this to other epidemics yet. I was only discovered last December.
Of course, precautions need to be taken.
That said, I would hate to see it become a political or election issue.
We're all in this together. I don't think the virus knows R from D.

Ohhhh, we shouldn't make this a political issue. I wonder why you, of all people, should say that. Politics was not the reason for this thread. Health safety and drag racing are the reasons I started it. But you appear worried that your boy will suffer support because of his poor response so far. I do hope for everyone concerned that our leaders can make the right decisions in defeating this virus.
