There is a good bit of support keeping Pure Stock.
Planning to show up to a few races this year.

Going to leave the 95SS Pure Stock.
Will finish the 69 Impala for Stock.
It has all the chassis reinforcement done.

Right now dealing with three aging parents.
They are needing more and more care.

Hi Duane, you really got the exposure for the new NHRA 1/8 Open Series! 17,933 views Wow! Now to let everyone know when the next one is occurring. Carolina Dragway, Jackson, SC (near Aiken, SC) Aug. 31-Sept. 2nd (Labor Day weekend). I signed up for my NHRA license in February and I'm grateful to Division 2 for giving me a place to race my crate motor Camaro. I could go back to the 305, that I raced for 10 years in my 1985 Camaro for J/SA, but I think the 350 is so much more fun and the wheel stand pictures are much better. Thank you Billy Plage! After we finished paying for daycare for our baby, Mama got a motor. Now our baby is ready to get her driver's permit.

Hopefully this series continues to get cars and exposure, maybe just about actual racing next time lol!

Cooter, you're just a stones throw away from most these NHRA races....show up and race for a Wally like you did at Galot! It's actually a well put together event.

If you had a fully IHRA-legal Pure Stock car, what mandatory changes (if any) would you have to make to it to be able to run the equivalent NHRA Stock class. I mean just to pass Tech, not anything to do with performance modifications.

Mike, just a suggestion, and I'm not trying to "beat-up" on anyone here, but this seems like a question best asked AND answered in its own thread post. Duane and Cooter did an awesome job trying to promote the NHRA Division #2 1/8-mile program that Rich and his crew put together for us, but somehow this thread got WAY OFF topic. Maybe we should give things a rest - at least until the next event!

If you're interested in what the differences are between what a IHRA Pure Stock "was" like, and what modifications would be necessary to make it competitive as a "legal" NHRA Stocker, I'm sure a post in the Tech Section would garner a whole lot of great information! You might also do a thread search for any archived posts.

The main thing to switch if the “pure stock” set up to a legal NHRA stocker set up is safety items such as s roll bar etc. without the changes to the engine I doubt you’ll ever run the NHRA index (unless it was a illegal pure stocker)

Stacie I told you at piedmont the best way to convert your car over to a regular NHRA car and then be able to run more divisionals and nationals.

You're right, Lew. I just dropped that question because the thread did get side tracked and I thought a thoughtful discussion might diffuse some of the heat that was building up.
