Smile Mid Atlantic Super Gas Association Results

Hello All,
Well the Mid Atlantic Super Gas Association kicked off it's 2008 season this weekend at Atco Raceway. We had great weather all weekend and a good car count to add to that. On Saturday a total of 27 cars showed up for first round as we had cars from Delaware to Massachusetts line up to take a shot at winning the race. Pat Iannone of Monroeville, NJ and his Black 87 Firebird paced the field with a perfect 9.900 second run in time trials. As the sun settled on the New Jersey track weather became a big factor as a drop of almost 30 degrees in temp had alot of drivers scratching their heads. The semi-finals came down to Dan Northrop and Don Knoblick on one side of the ladder and the other was Jack Donnelly and Frank Tatarynowicz. Northrop and his ISC Racers Tape Vega took out Knoblick's Vega after both drivers had .005 lights. On the other side of the ladder Donnelly took care of Tatarynowicz. So the final pitted Atco's own Jack Donnelly against Northrop. The final was one for the books as Northrop took a slight .003 to .004 at the start but, Northrop could not hold on as he went under with a 9.886 to Donnelly's 9.901. So congrats to Jack Donnelly on becoming the first 2008 winner for MASGA.

As the sun rose up on yet another wonderful day of racing for the MASGA clan some cars packed up and went home for the weekend leaving us with 17 total cars for Sunday's race. Don Miller and his great looking 68 Camaro paced the field with a 9.904 second run. Due to the uneven amount of cars a bye run would be earned into the final round by either Miller or 2007 Champion Iggie Boicesco. Boicesco took out Miller to earn a spot into his first final round of the year against either Cartereath, NY George Smith or Green Brook, NJ Matt Schurman. At the green Schurman took a huge advantage against Smith and George's 9.91 could not make up the ground lost at the start putting Schurman in the final. So the final was set and as Storm clouds were moving in the final was decided at the tree as Schurman went -.001 red to Iggie's .009, both cars made it to half track before shutting off due to the wind gusts. So congrats to Iggie, Carol and Amanda for winning race #2 of the 08 season.

MASGA will invade Atco Raceway in a 3 short weeks as on Mother's Day (May 10th & 11th) weekend Races #3 and #4 will be held there. If your interested in coming down feel free to call Lucky, or E-Mail Leanne. Once again a big THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported MASGA in the first weekend of racing we truly could not due this without the support of the racers, I hope everyone had a great time. Pictures should be up shortly on the website.
