Default Roll bar rules

How closely do techs check the distances, like the main hoop has to be at least 3" above your helmet and be no more than 6" behind your helmet, and stuff like that?

Wink Re: Roll bar rules

Pete if your asking do they get a rule out and mesure ..I don't think so...unless something looks REAL wrong. in general if everything looks safe they don't give you a hard time. the tec guys are not out to spoil your day they just want everyone to be safe....;-)

Default Re: Roll bar rules

when i put the roll bar in my gto i was concerned abought the height. the bar is tight aginst the headliner can go no farther up, i,m 6 foot 3inches tall sitting in the stock seat the top of my helmet is even with the bar.when i asked the nhra teck abought this i told them i could cure it by using an aftermarket seat and lowering the mounts. they said the only way i could do it if it was a full cage, that was not an option due to weight and other reasons the way i ended the conversation was so the stock seat rule is more important then the head clearance rule and they said thats right, i padded all the way around the bar and have never even been questioned on it.and actualy i have never been seated in the car when they teck it.
so just make sure your bars are tight aginst the headliner and are welded properly and you should be fine.
