Default 10 Bolt Dropout 4.11 Gear

I have a friend looking for a 4.11 street gear for a 10 bolt dropout. Does anyone have anything like this or a known vendor. It looks to have an odd 17 spline pinion.

Thanks for any help!

Sean

Sean,

are you speaking of a Chevy 3rd member? If so, that unit fits 1955 - 1964 Chevy cars. Parts are out there for those.

Hi Larry!

Yes that's what he has,

It looks like the 4.11 gear is an odd one to find. I found an entire posi and gear kit, but not just the gear set by itself? He has everything but his gears are junk.He has called vendors and has not had much luck.

Thanks
Sean

4.11's , 4.56's are readily available new. In fact, I believe that Richmond is making the 3 series gear sets as well.
There are also modern re-enforcement upgrades for these rear ends.

4.11 factory ring gears are pretty narrow (weak), but that's what the 3-speed overdrive transmission cars came with. Gears are still available new from the aftermarket, but this is an area where E-Bay is your friend. I have a bunch of the 55-64 dropout third member stuff; just gave away an open 3.70 unit and a set of new Schiefer 5.57 gears. Go to BruneauPerformance.Ca (a Canadian site), he has stuff also for these rears. Butch/56sedandelivery.

Thanks for everyone's PM's and responses!

I think my friend has this taken care of now. We found someone with several new gear sets on ebay. The car is just a driver, and I guess it had this setup when he started the build.

Thanks
Sean
