Re: BB Chev HP
I would guess 625 to 650 for 427.....But I am a Mopar
racer. It would depend on whose Dyno too.

Re: BB Chev HP
Of course every dyno can be wildly different, so it's hard to say very accurately. But my general rule of thumb is that if you can make 1.45 horsepower per NHRA HP Factor, you'll run decent. I would guess the guys at the top of their classes are roughly 1.6+ hp/Factor.
So an example would be a 375hp aluminum headed 396" Big Block rated at 405hp by NHRA with an auto transmission should be: 1.45 x 405 = 587hp. Start getting over that and you'll be more and more competitive.Bad boys are probably in the 645hp range. |

I'm running the 402" 70 Nova with Alum Heads HP Per NHRA is 415 which puts me at 601.75 HP. I have some work to do.

a decently preparedRe: BB Chev HP
I was talking about 427 engine. I was thinking 425/435 Combo.
On our stuff I usually figure about 1.5 x Rated to go 1 under on decently prepared stocker. Our Superstocker take at least 2 x Facter for 1 under pass! My .02 Your Mileage may vary

Re: BB Chev HP
The only big reference point I have seen someone post was a dyno sheet from Steve Wann's 413" motor in 2018. It made 674hp with a 405hp factor. That's a HUGE 1.66hp/factor - but that's also why he has one of (if not THE) fastest A/SA in the country.
