Default Higgs boson

Neil DeGrasse Tyson -
On the day we reserve to tell ourselves America is great - July 4 - Europe reminds us that we suck at science.
You just wait Europe, science in America will rise again -- some time this millennium.

Theoretical Euro bs hoping for more Gov. money. I know Canada sunk a pile of dough into this " nerd's country club " years ago with the promise that part of the research would be done in our area , it was supposed to be a huge complex. We sent them a bunch of money they changed their minds. Our PM at the time did get his picture taken in front of the fancy machine thant goes ' ping '---Trevor

Man, you can always find someone to say something negative about any topic. This hostility toward science and knowledge in North America really is sad, I guess that's Curmudgeon's point.

The boson isn't theoretical anymore, apparently. It was never BS. In the long run, it could lead to new materials, or entirely new elements, made from elementary particles. It's an ancient alchemist's dream.

The connection between energy and matter is now clearer. What that means for energy production, or rapid travel through space, remains to be seen. But new things that were once thought impossible are now only difficult. And things that no one has thought of yet will be forthcoming eventually.

This is a key turning point in our knowledge of the universe in which we live, that will be noted in history for millennia, but perhaps will be a bit under-appreciated right now.

Without discovery there is no future. Just the past.

Superconducting Supercollider was to have been built in Texas . Feeble retrograde minds canceled the project two decades ago . There had been opposition from the knowledge-averse from the beginning .
