Congrats to the Champs
Let me start off by offering congratulations to the NHRA Division 1 Top Dragster (Joey DiPasquale) and Top Sportsman (Tommy Daras) Champs. Great seasons for both of these guys.
I opened up the Dec. 12th issue of the National Dragster and was disappointed. Every division had a picture of their Top Sportsman and Top Dragster champs, EXCEPT for Division 1. Although you two gentlemen may not have been covered in print, you should be proud of your accomplishments. Being highlighted or praised by the "powers that be" is nice, but earning the respect and admiration of your fellow racers is what it is all about, and you two men have done just that. Good luck on defending your crowns in 2009. Maggiulli Jr. |

Re: Congrats to the Champs
Congratulations to both of you!!!
I think that the division one management should be ashamed of not acknowledging all of its champions. You two worked as hard if not harder than all of the other classes to earn this honor. Congraulations to you and thank you for representing what I feel are the two best classes in drag racing so well. B.J. Masiello |

This subject goes back to the winter of 07-08 (.90 side of class racer) where the class is "not recognized" as a divisional series in D1 which is total BS! Lets not open up that can of S**T because the cry baby's will begin coming from under your kitchen sink and say "SHUT UP MAN YOUR GOING TO RUIN IT" ANY WAY Congrats to Joey Di and Tommy Daras .... It is not an easy feat to win the division championship (or whatever they are going to call it) still and all you had the most amount of round wins this season than ANYONE ELSE. That is saying something (especially in D1 where the competition is "second to none") CONGRATS! Last edited by sc1153; 12-19-2008 at 11:42 AM. |

Re: Congrats to the Champs
I just noticed in the Jan. 23 issue of National Dragster they reprinted the page of division one champions. This time it did include Joe DiPasquale and Tommy Daras as the Top Dragster and Top Sportsman champs.
We do have to credit the Division one and NHRA for realizing that it wrong and making it right. I have gained a lot of respect seeing this. I am glad that both of these racers are being recognized as well. B.J. Masiello |

Re: Congrats to the Champs
Congrats guys. At least now (since they put your photos in) all the people in the staging lanes will know what car to stay away from :-).
Good job and see you in a few months. |
