Default 60's North Carolina Racers

Does anyone remember a racer who raced Sanford, Kinston and other area dragstrips in the 60's with a gold colored 61 chevrolet impala with a 409 with 2-4's impressive car back then.

See if you can get hold of Tim Sloan, an engine builder in Sanford, NC. His daughter, Hillary, is a member here. But I don't have their contact info at the moment. He may know or have some leads.

Bob Rice is a member here and he just might know the racer you are thinking about.

Question Re: 60's North Carolina Racers

I think David Surles used to race one.
But I'm not sure.

Bingo !!! Johnny Hollingsworth was the namw we were trying to remember...Thanks Jeff/Bobby Warren for the info....
I ran a 335 HP 348 59 Chevy and Hollingsworth's 61 409 had to spot me but his top end was always too strong for me.
Thanks for the memories.
