Default batteries and "sealed boxes"

According to the IHRA/NHRA rules, do optima type batteries still need to be put in sealed battery boxes? I can't find anything on the subject other than someone on another forum stated that optima type batteries don't need to be in sealed boxes.
Thanks

Default Re: batteries and "sealed boxes"

If the battery location is not separate from the driver's compartment, it MUST be in a sealed box, secured, and vented to the outside of the vehicle.
If there is a firewall or bulkhead, it need not be installed in a sealed box, just secured.
